No really, I had a big paddling pool all ready to use and it is still in its box!  Usually summer is a quiet time for the shop but this year that has not been the case, probably a testament to the disappointing British weather and of course our very savvy customers avoiding the rush of Autumn.

Last week I had our fire on at home whilst watching the Great British Bake Off.  I was very glad to have that option otherwise the heating would have gone on - in August!  As sad as I am to see the summer dwindling I am looking forward to that beautiful change of seasons, our family’s annual trip to Westonbirt Arboretum with its striking colours, the return of roast dinners, my son collecting conkers and pinecones, that crisp, fresh air as you leave the house and of course snuggling in front of the fire.

Before I get too carried away I expect we will see a return of the sun just in time for all the little ones to go back to school.  I can still feel the itch and sweat from being made to wear my winter blazer, tights and jumper in those early weeks back at school.  My little boy starts school this year and I hope he doesn’t have to deal with that discomfort although maybe coming home to the big paddling pool will make up for it!
